MBAIAA Newsletter – November 2022

Step 11 – “Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.”

“Those of us who have come to make regular use of prayer would no more do without it than we would refuse air, food, or sunshine.  And for the same reason, when we refuse air, light, or food, the body suffers.  And when we turn away from meditation and prayer, we likewise deprive our minds, our emotions, and our intuitions of vitally needed support.  As the body can fail its purpose for lack of nourishment, so can the soul.  We all need the light of God’s reality, the nourishment of His strength, and the atmosphere of His grace.  To an amazing extent, the facts of A.A. life confirm this ageless truth.”

News From General Service

Monterey General Service is excited to welcome our new panel of officers and liaisons in January.  Elections were held at our last monthly meeting and we are pleased to announce Annette C. as our incoming District Committee Meeting Chair (DCMC) for 2023-2024!  Our upcoming panel is ready, willing and able to serve.  District 01 Monterey still has a few positions to fill and will be holding elections for those at our upcoming District Meeting.  If you believe you are available and/or would like to learn more, we’d love to see you at our next district meeting.  We meet the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at McGowan House, 381 High Street, Monterey or via a digital platform.  General Service is the link in chain between our local AA members and AA World Services.  General Service has personally rocketed my sobriety into the fourth dimension and I am very grateful to have been of service.

With gratitude and service,

Jessica A.

A Note From Central Office

Here we are in late November.  Many festivities are in the works and we’re looking forward to a happy, healthy holiday season & new year!  Things haven’t always been joyous and peaceful for many members of our fellowship. The loneliness of alcoholism can be extremely difficult this time of year for families suffering the many hardships of alcoholism.  Every year in November, we acknowledge our gratitude for the many rewards of sobriety, by celebrating what we have come to call Gratitude Month.  A month in which we give thanks to the fellowship by contributing what we can to MBAIAA.  This allows our office to continue the good works of reaching out to those who still suffer.  Please give what you can.

Don’t forget that we will be having elections in January.  We will need a new Steering Committee and some groups will need new IGRs to continue the good works that our fellowship has established.  Please call the office for any information.  Surely you and your sponsees can step up for these important positions.  It only takes a small amount of time to answer the call of MBAIAA.

Please keep Central Office posted about any meeting changes, or any special events that might be happening.  This Intergroup is about one thing – Fellowship!  We need each other to continue to be happy, joyous and free.

Be well and Happy Holidays

Jana

Look after each other, support each other, and remember that we can’t stay sober alone.  Share with others what was so freely given to you.
