MBAIAA Newsletter – November 2023

Published on November 22, 2023

Step 11 – “Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.”

“Those of us who have come to make regular use of prayer would no more do without it than we could refuse air, food, or sunshine. And for the same reason. When we refuse air, light or food, the body suffers. And when we turn away from meditation and prayer, we likewise deprive our minds, our emotions, and our intuitions of vitally needed support. As the body can fail its purpose for lack of nourishment, so can the soul. We will need the light of God’s reality, the nourishment of His strength, and the atmosphere of His Grace. To an amazing extent the facts of AA life confirm this ageless truth.”

A Note From Central Office

Here we are in late November, a month we alcoholics call “Gratitude Month.  Traditionally, it is the month when our members show their gratitude by contributing what they can to this fellowship.  It is an important time of the year.

The building we have been in for more than 30 years is being torn down and turned into an apartment building, with construction beginning in January.  We have recently located a new location for Central Office and have signed a 3 year lease agreement beginning the start of next month.  We have so much to look forward to!  The office may be closed for a few days but our our hotline number will continue to be available at all hours.  Thank you to all for your patience during this transition.

Volunteers will be helping with the move beginning December 2nd – We can use your assistance!  If you have a healthy back and a pickup truck, here is a perfect opportunity to be of service.  Give us a call to learn how you can help.

We are a little bit sad to announce that we cancelling our Holiday Banquet & Birthday meeting this year.  In it’s place we will encourage you to come and see our new home at 546 Hartnell St Suite F.  You will find us directly across the street from Carl’s Alley which runs along the southwest side of the Fellowship Hall.  We will have refreshments and we will have coins for those of you who celebrate their sobriety date in December.  Consider it a big, old fashioned house warming the week before Christmas.  Please come see our new digs, help to celebrate this exciting new beginning for MBAIAA, and fill our new home with love, gratitude, and joy.
